There are many ways to put together outfits for photo sessions. Because I shoot outside of the studio in natural lighting, I recommend that my clients be dressed as naturally and comfortably as possible. Dress like you would everyday, but with a little extra pizazz so that I can capture who you really are. Bright colors, and different textures always stand out in any photos. Hair pieces, jewelry and shoes are fun additional accessories that are easy ways to provide extra pop to your outfits. Avoid too many patterns, and company logos. Very often I focus on hands and feet, so make sure that nails are trimmed and clean.
You can also take your inspiration from several places:
- Think about the surrounding colors in the location of your session.
- Think about the time of year and what colors naturally complement the season.
- Think about where in your home you will want to display the photos–bright colors compliment earthy tones, and vice versa.
For further inspiration, visit your local paint store. Very often they will have palates of complimenting color tones and schemes.
