There was something special about this dangling string of lights that caught my eye…the color, the texture, the almost cluttered nature of the piece of environment, and the winter sun–highlighting the trees and making those lights sparkle.

Let’s Do 52: Week 1: “Sharing/All Natural”

I am thrilled and excited to take on a new project for the upcoming year: Let’s Do 52 through Paint the Moon Photography. Each week those who are involved in the project receive a theme and are asked to take and submit a picture that they feel best represents that theme. The hope is to be motivated and inspired by other photographers involved and to push ourselves as artists and the way we capture the little bits and pieces of ordinary magic in the world around us.

This week the theme is “Sharing” and “All Natural.” I took this photo not too long ago at my sister’s wedding in Colorado. The raw, natural, pure emotion captured me instantly, making that memory one I will not forget.

In October I was in the city to run the Chicago Marathon. It was a life-changing event that reinforced the important lessons of struggle, patience, dedication and triumph.
